Conditions
Training and work practice
- You have worked as a professional visual artist for 1 year and are registered with the Chamber of Commerce; or you have completed at least 3 years of higher professional education as a visual artist and have worked as a professional visual artist for at least 1 year. Or you have worked as a professional visual artist for 3 years or more.
- You will not be able to apply for an Artist with Child Voucher while attending education at institutions, such as bachelor’s and master’s courses. This also applies to post-graduate or post-doctoral courses.
- You are artistically active in the visual arts and in that capacity embedded in the professional visual arts practice in the Netherlands and/or the Caribbean part of the Kingdom.
Project plan
- The Artist with Child Voucher can only be applied for in the case of one-off, temporary and additional care/travel and/or accommodation costs for a child who is not yet of compulsory school age and for whom the applicant is responsible.
- These costs arise as a result of a multi-day activity of a temporary nature, such as a residency period or construction phase of an exhibition. This must be evident from a registration, commitment or invitation from the institution where the multi-day activity takes place and financial proof such as an agreement and invoice from the childcare agency or the babysitter.
NB: if you hire non-professional childcare, such as a family member or someone from your own personal circle, the Mondriaan Fund charges an hourly rate of €10.25 excluding VAT with a maximum of 8 hours per day. - The Artist with Child Voucher cannot be applied for during the term of another financial grant from the Mondriaan Fund if the fund board is of the opinion that the contribution covers the same costs.
- The Artist with Child Voucher cannot be requested for (extra) hours at the Daycare with which a permanent agreement has already been made.
- The Artist with Child Voucher can be awarded a maximum of 3 times per 12 months, provided that the multi-day activities for which the applications have been requested are separate. It is not possible to request multiple vouchers for costs incurred as a result of the same activity. An Artist with Child Voucher cannot be requested again for additional extra costs that arise as a result of a multi-day activity for which a Voucher has been requested.
Assessment
The submitted application and attachments will be checked for completeness. A simplified procedure is used for the Artist with Child Voucher.
Fund Agency Assessment
In the 4 years prior to your application for Artist with Child Voucher, have you received positive recommendation for an application for the Artist Start (formerly Work Contribution for Young Talent), Artist Basic (formerly Work Contribution to Proven Talent), Artist Project (formerly Project Investment for Artist/Intermediary) grants? And/or Publications? And did you not receive negative assessment after this positive recommendation? Fund staff will then assess whether your Artist with Child Voucher application meets the conditions. If so, the application can be granted.
Advisory committee assessment
Is this your first application to the Mondriaan Fund, or was your last assessment negative? Your application will then be assessed against the conditions and your CV will be submitted to an advisory committee.
This advisory committee assesses the degree of recognition and its importance for Dutch visual art, based on solo and group exhibitions, sales, publications, assignments, subsidies and possible prizes. An Artist with Child Voucher can only be awarded if the committee gives a positive recommendation.
Due to a limited budget, we may unfortunately not be able to grant all positively assessed applications. The fund agency will rank the positively assessed applications in order of when they have been received. This is calculated from the moment the complete application is received. This means that it may be possible that an application has been assessed positively, but you unfortunately receive no or a lower contribution.
Checklist
In order to process your application, the Mondriaan Fund needs information: data that you can enter in the application form plus documents that you can upload. Below is a checklist that lists everything together and follows the format of the application form.
Tip: gather the information before you start filling out the online application form. You can upload the attachments as PDFs. Note: make sure your documents meet the set conditions. Otherwise, unfortunately, we will not be able to process your application. Do not exceed the number of pages where a maximum is indicated.
