To increase the fund’s accessibility, the Mondriaan Fund works with regional agents. In 2025, the Mondriaan Fund is expanding its team of regional agents from three to five. The Netherlands is now divided into five regions, each with its own representative. The regional agents are point of contact for questions about Mondriaan Fund subsidies and identify new initiatives, target groups and current developments in their region.

The five regional agents are: Boris Brink (North region), Carlijn Diesfeldt (Central/West region), Erna aan de Stegge (East region), Farah Wilbers (Southeast region) and Rebecca Nelemans (Southwest region). The regional agents are managed by regional coordinator Neeltje Timmers. Neeltje plays a pivotal role in connecting the various regions in the Netherlands, the regional agents and the Mondriaan Fund, as well as being the point of contact for local and regional administrators and policy officials.

Eelco van der Lingen, Mondriaan Fund director:

“With the expansion to five regional agents and a regional coordinator, we are strengthening our connection with the entire country. This will not only allow us to respond better to regional developments, but also support more artists and institutions with their plans. Art and heritage are everywhere, and with this move we ensure that opportunities and resources are more accessible, no matter where you are.”

About the regional agents

It is important that all potential applicants know how to find the Mondriaan Fund. To increase accessibility, the Fund works with regional agents; professionals from the visual arts and cultural heritage field who represent the Mondriaan Fund in the region where they live and work.

The regional agents draw the attention of potential applicants to the opportunities the Mondriaan Fund has to offer and encourage applicants to make use of them. In addition, the regional agents identify local needs, new target groups and other relevant developments in the field of visual arts and cultural heritage for the fund.
