Meruro Washida

Meruro Washida is a curator based in Kanazawa, Japan. He is currently the director of the Towada Art Center (Aomori, Japan).

He worked as a curator at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art in Kanazawa from 1999 to 2018. He also served as the Japan Pavilion Curator for the 57th Venice Biennale 2017. Moreover, he is a curator of the Aichi Triennale 2019. He curated several exhibitions including SANAA / Kazuyo Sejima + Ryue Nishizawa, Atelier Bow-Wow, Iki-Iki Project in Kanazawa, Kanazawa Art Platform 2008, Jeppe Hein: 360°, Shimabuku: Noto, and Masashi Echigo: Loop Hole. He teaches at Kanazawa University and Kanazawa College of Art.

The focus of his curating activities are the interdisciplinary phenomenon of contemporary art and architecture, the locality, and the participation.

The visit is planned in collaboration with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Tokyo, Japan.
