Johannes Hedinger

Johannes M. Hedinger is the funding director of the ILEA Institute for Land and Environmental Art (Switzerland) and has been the artistic director of the Art Safiental Biennale and the Alps Art Academy (both 2015 – 2024). Hedinger is a lecturer at the University of the Arts Zürich (since 2006) and the University of Cologne (since 2010) and a researcher at the Bern Academy of the Arts. He is continuously researching, curating, producing, writing and lecturing about contemporary arts, ecology, transdisciplinarity and transformation in and with the arts. He is the author of blooks such as: What if? Letter from the Future (2024), Learning from the Earth (2023), LANDSCAPE #1 (2020), What’s Next? Art after the Crisis (2013) and Lexikon zur zeitgenössischen Kunst (2010).

Hedinger studied at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), the University of Zurich, Humboldt University Berlin and the University of Los Angeles (UCLA); postgraduate studies at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) and the University of Lausanne. Hedinger has worked as an artist for 30 years, as a curator for 25 Years and as an educator for 20 years. His artistic work is known as part of the art collective Com&Com (Venice Biennale, Kunstwerke Berlin, Kunsthaus Zürich and others).
