Lassana Igo Diarra previously served as general delegate for its 12th edition in 2019. Additionally, he is the Director of the Africa Pavilion for the 15th Gwangju Biennial in South Korea, slated for 2024. Igo is the founder and director of Galerie Médina in Bamako, Mali, established in 2011, and also initiated Éditions Balani’s, publishing numerous books, including tales, comics, novels, and art catalogs.
His notable works include “Au cœur de Bamako” (2017). He has curated numerous exhibitions both nationally and internationally, such as “Bamako Dream 30,” a pan-African touring exhibition, “60 Arts du Mali” in Bamako (2020), “Learning from Timbuktu” in Athens for Documenta 14 (2017), and “Ali Farka Touré, proud and well” in Kassel. His curatorial work extends to Dakar, Lagos, and Rabat. Igo also contributes as a board member of IBA, an international biennial association, and acts as a jury member and advisor for various global art prizes.
