Emma Lewis is an independent curator and current Guest Curator at The Barnes Foundation, Philadelphia, where she is organizing the exhibition Sue Williamson and Lebohang Kganye: Tell Me What You Remember (5 March–23 May 2023).
From 2015–22 she was Assistant Curator, International Art at Tate Modern, where she organised or co-organised major exhibitions on Dora Maar, Olafur Eliasson, Wolfgang Tillmans and Amedeo Modigliani and was jointly responsible for the strategic development and display of Tate’s photography collection, with a focus on representations of women’s histories and global feminisms. She is author of two books: Isms: Understanding Photography (Bloomsbury 2017) and Photography: A Feminist History (Ilex 2021).
