Kimura was curator of Yokohama Triennale 2014 and assistant curator of Yokohama Triennale 2005. Her research interest includes contemporary art, sculpture, photography and video art, experimental art, performance and contemporary cultural theory.
Recent curated exhibitions includes amongst others: BODY/PLAY/POLITICS (YMA, 2016), Cai-Guo Qiang: There and Back Again (YMA, 2015) and Welcome to the Jungle: Contemporary art in Southeast Asia from the collection of Singapore Art Museum, co-organized by Singapore Art Museum, (YMA, 2013 / toured to Contemporary Art Museum, Kumamoto, 2013).
She contributes to art magazine BT/ Bijutsutecho and is part-time lecturer at Yokohama College of Art and Design (2003 to 2004), Tokyo Zokei University (2008 and 2010) and Kyoritsu Women’s University (2010- present). Kimura previously worked as guest curator of Kuandu Biennale in Taipei, 2008 and participated as commissioner for the Busan Sea Art Festival in 2011.
During her two day visit Kimura will meet artists and different museums and institutions in the Netherlands.
Her visit is organised in collaboration with the Embassy of the Netherlands in Tokyo and the Danish Arts Foundation.
