De Garage is committed to the contemporary artist and contemporary visual arts and its relationship to innovation and change. The Garage is an artist-oriented operation in which the dialogue with the artist is central. The medium and the artist’s artistic practice carry meaning and are an essential part of the concept. Regardless of the art market and trends, De Garage brings emerging artists and neglected artists or oeuvres to the public’s attention. The heart of Museum Hof van Busleyden is the focus on the Renaissance and Humanism. The museum actively questions which self-evidence from the past is viewed from a different perspective today. Following on from contemporary tendencies within the contemporary visual arts, a critical reflection is made on the collection arrangement and the themes it translates.
