Michael Arzt (born 1977 in Chemnitz) has been the artistic director of HALLE 14 – Centre for Contemporary Art Leipzig since 2014. He has held various positions at HALLE 14 and other contemporary art institutions since 2003.
From 2007 to 2012 he was artistic director of the D21 Kunstraum Leipzig. He has curated and co-organized numerous group and solo exhibitions, residencies, lectures series, projects, performances, publications, workshops, etc. with artists and speakers from all over the world. His recent major projects have included art exhibitions on future challenges for cities, Big Data and Islam. He is the 2nd chairman of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deutscher Kunstvereine (ADKV) and a member of the expert committee Kunstvereine of the Niedersächsische Ministerium für Wissenschaft und Kultur. From 2017 to 2019 he was a member of the Fine Arts Advisory Board of the Kulturstiftung des Freistaates Sachsen.
