Mentoring

Rita Ouédraogo (available from March/April 2025)

"I will accompany artists through their creative practice, drawing from my own experiences to guide both the artistic vision and thematic depth of their work. Together, we will explore the unique position you occupy as an artist, uncovering your strengths and envisioning new ways to cultivate and expand them. Our conversations will serve as a vessel, where your practice and interests are refined and intensified."

Rita Ouédraogo continuously develops experimental and collaborative projects and public programmes on collaboration, archives, (de)colonialism, the African diaspora, institutional power, counter-culture, popular culture, and social issues. She holds an MSc in Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology from the University of Amsterdam.

Ouédraogo has worked on various projects aimed at broadening access to museum collections and on projects outside institutional structures. She researches questions related to cooperation and solidarity, examining modes of collaborative practices across power differentials, especially within a decolonial framework. She is the co-founder and current curator of Buro Stedelijk, the project space of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. A place to discover Amsterdam’s dynamic and progressive art scene.

Rita on mentoring

“I will accompany artists through their creative practice, drawing from my own experiences to guide both the artistic vision and thematic depth of their work. Together, we will explore the unique position you occupy as an artist, uncovering your strengths and envisioning new ways to cultivate and expand them. Our conversations will serve as a vessel, where your practice and interests are refined and intensified.

We will also delve into the nature of collaboration—reflect on who you aspire to create with, and how these connections can be forged into reality. Artists across all disciplines are invited to join me in this mentoring program.”
